David W. Covington is on a mission to save lives. He has produced Moving America’s Soul on Suicide, founded #CrisisTalk and Hope Inc. Stories, and had a hand in many other crisis-related articles, tools and more in order to help people in crisis and shape crisis systems. David’s many innovations have helped countless people find hope and healing in the face of tragedy and trauma.

In 2009, David was on the plane relocating from Atlanta to Phoenix to join the Magellan Health team and thinking that lightning only strikes in the same place once. His little team at Behavioral Health Link in partnership with state government had crafted the Georgia Crisis & Access Line and they’d been recognized by Harvard’s Innovations in American Government. So, he was reading the Ten Faces of Innovation by Ideo, and their mantra was clear: innovation isn’t by chance, but the result of rigorous discipline and straight forward practices.

Moving America's Soul on Suicide

Moving America’s Soul on Suicide is documentary film featuring stories of suffering and stories of courage. Millions struggle and tens of thousands die every year… yet, America shrugs. Time for hope.

#CrisisTalk

#CrisisTalk is powered by the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) and its Crisis Now partners. Crisis Now is a roadmap to safe, effective crisis care that diverts people in distress from the emergency department and jail by developing a continuum of crisis care services that match people’s clinical needs to care. Crisis Now partners are the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, National Council for Mental Wellbeing, and RI International (d/b/a for Recovery Innovations, Inc.).

Hope Inc. Stories

The Hope Inc. Stories team believes in sharing the light and the dark of recovery through videos, motivation, and real recovery talk; all with hope as our driving force. The team believes they can change the way mental health care and recovery is seen and achieved, so to redefine what a journey looks like.
